Quite a few locations across Central Virginia saw some heavy downpours on Friday. Today’s chance for showers will be confined mainly along the US Route 460 corridor. Any storm that does develop will likely produce very heavy rain and frequent lightning.

High temperatures today will climb back into the low to mid 90’s. The heat index will reach 100 degrees for locations east of the Blue Ridge – a bit lower compared to yesterday’s dew points in the low to mid 70’s. The UV index is very high, so make sure you apply plenty of sunscreen and drink lots of water when outdoors today.
