A cold front will move across the Mid-Atlantic region this afternoon, bringing the chance for strong to possibly severe thunderstorms across the entire Hampton Roads region. The Storm Prediction Center has a Level 1 or “Marginal Risk” for severe weather.
TIMING: 3:00 p.m. through 8:00 p.m.
SEVERE THREAT: Damaging wind gusts 60+ mph, large hail, and frequent lightning possible.
Looking Ahead: Once the storms exit, temperatures will fall into the 60’s overnight, with 50’s in the mountains and the Shenandoah Valley. Dew points will be drier, in the 40’s! Temperatures on Sunday mainly in the low to mid 70’s east of the Blue Ridge with 60’s along the immediate coast and in the mountains. Temperatures will remain a bit below normal through Monday, then a ridge of high pressure will push temperatures well into the 80’s to possibly lower 90’s as we go into the middle of next week.
