The Storm Prediction Center has placed Hampton Roads (Southeastern Va.) in a Level 3/5 *ENAHNCED RISK* for severe storms that could produce tornadoes Thursday afternoon and evening. Also, a Level 2/5 *SLIGHT RISK* is out for Central Virginia, including Metro Richmond and the Northern Neck.
11:00 AM Thursday: Winds ahead of the front and low pressure system will be gusting 35 to 45 MPH with higher gusts up to 50 MPH. We expect a line of thunderstorms to develop just east of the Blue Ridge and slowly move across the US Route 29 Corridor and nearing Interstate 95 by early afternoon Thursday. Some of these storms across Central and South Central Virginia may be severe with damaging winds and frequent lightning.
