Welcome to August! Before Isaias gets here, we have potential severe weather to deal with today. The Storm Prediction Center has a SLIGHT RISK (Level 2 out of 5) for this afternoon and evening across much of Northern Virginia. Damaging wind gusts, locally heavy rainfall, frequent lightning, and large hail are possible in any strong or severe thunderstorm.
Between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m., a few thunderstorms will likely develop across the Central Shenandoah Valley and along the Blue Ridge. These storms will likely contain very heavy rainfall as they drift to the northeast.
