Several disturbances will move along a stationary front draped across the Mid-Atlantic through this weekend. The best chance for showers and thunderstorms will be Thursday and Friday afternoon/evening time frame.

There is a higher chance that much of Virginia will see decent rainfall as precipitable water values are over 2 inches. This tool helps to measure the amount of moisture in the air. Often times, I compare this as a sponge soaked with water — that’s basically what our air mass is going to look like over the next several days. The disturbances along the front are also helping to tap into some moisture from the Gulf and Atlantic.
