A September CHILL will be in the air tonight! It will be much warmer along the coast, due to a persistent and gusty northeast wind. However, light winds across the Piedmont will allow temperatures to fall into the 40’s. Even colder in the Valley with lows in the upper 30’s (and possibly a few degrees colder in the coldest rural areas.) Patchy frost will be possible in those areas.
TIDAL FLOODING TO CONTINUE THROUGH MONDAY
This is a reminder that MODERATE TO MAJOR TIDAL FLOODING is likely along the Mouth of the Bay and into portions of Hampton Roads through Monday. Water could rise 2 to 3 feet above ground level and many roads, including some homes and businesses, may flood due to high water.
WIND: North winds Friday evening, sustained winds 20 to 25 mph and gusts 30 to 40 mph, will switch to the Northeast by Friday Night through Monday. Winds will be sustained 15 to 25 mph and gusts up to 30 mph. Winds will slowly subside on Monday.
WAVES: Large waves will be likely across the Chesapeake Bay and Coastal Atlantic. Wave heights are expected to range 3 to 6 feet through the weekend along the Chesapeake Bay, with wave heights larger than 8 feet along the Coastal Atlantic.
RIP CURRENTS: There is a HIGH and DANGEROUS rip current risk through the weekend along the Coastal Atlantic. It is recommended to AVOID going out into the water this weekend.
